Where the money comes from

Several ways to raise, all night long

Unlike a raffle or a quiz that leans on one big push, a race night raises money in stages across the whole evening. Six races plus a live auction race at the end means the atmosphere, and the total, keep building. Schools, PTAs and sports clubs often do especially well, because your community is already right behind you. Here is how it stacks up.

Sponsors & pre-sell

Local businesses sponsor each of the six races, which is affordable for them and pure profit for you. Guests buy their horses in advance on the pre-sell sheets I provide, so money is already coming in before anyone arrives.

The tote

This is the main income stream. Simple, fast and good fun, guests place small bets on each race and the pot builds every time. It is the engine of the evening and it adds up quickly.

Auction race & raffle

For the final race the horses are auctioned to the highest bidder, which always brings a lively, competitive end to the night. Run your raffle alongside it and you close on a high with the total climbing right to the finish line.

Something a bit different

Blow up sheep racing

Not every fundraiser wants a big screen and a darkened room. Blow up sheep racing is our hands-on bit of fun, and a brilliant fit for school fetes, summer fairs and family fun days. The giant inflatable sheep are a real crowd-pleaser for all ages, and it sets up indoors or out, so a spot of British weather need not stop play. Run it on its own as a fete attraction, or add it alongside an evening race night.

Charity race night questions

Is a school or club race night legal?
Yes. The races are pre-recorded films, so there is no betting on live sporting events. When it is run as fundraising for a good cause, using the compliant tote system I bring, it sits comfortably within the rules for non-commercial gaming at a charity event. You do not need a licence, and I handle the paperwork.
How much can we realistically raise?
Most groups raise between £1,000 and £3,500 in a single evening. The total depends on how many guests you have, your ticket price, how many sponsors you line up, and how engaged your crowd is. Schools, PTAs and sports clubs often reach the higher end because their communities are already behind them.
What do we need to provide?
A room, whether that is the school hall or your clubhouse, plus tables, chairs and a keen crowd. That is it. I bring the PA, the screen, the races and all the kit. A bar and a few donated raffle prizes help the total, but none of that is essential.
How long does the evening last?
The racing itself runs around two hours, with the auction race and prize giving at the end. Most nights sit comfortably within a typical function slot, and I am flexible around your bar times and any other bits you have planned.
How far do you travel?
Based in Hove, I cover Sussex and the wider South East as standard. If you are a little further out, just ask, I am usually happy to travel for the right event.
